College & University Palmetto Villas USC Upstate Spartanburg, South Carolina Cost: $400,000 Back	PALMETTO VILLAS MKA is currently providing architectural design services for the renovations to Palmetto Villas, an apartment style housing complex located on the University of South Carolina Upstate Campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Originally built in 1985, the twelve building student housing development is located in the heart of campus and is an active and engaged center of on-campus living. The initial phase of the project included the HVAC, bathroom, and roof replacement for each of the buildings. The project was scheduled around USC Upstate's academic calendar and was completed in record time and under budget. The second phase of the housing complex renovation includes the conversion of Villa #1 into individual living/learning apartments which adhere to the conformity and discipline of the campus environment. MKA also provided feasibility planning studies for the renovation and enhancement of the twelve building complex facade. Additional landscape renovations and a proposed outdoor pavilion provide a natural transition between the outdoor environment and the on-campus living experience.
