PHOENIX ACADEMY ADOLESCENT TREATMENT FACILITY

Set in the beautiful rural countryside of northern Greenville County, the new Phoenix Academy enjoys lush and natural surroundings in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Unlike traditional institutional facilities, MKA's innovative design embraced and integrated the contours of the surrounding countryside to create a restful and natural environment in which to recover and receive treatment.

The main structure is divided into three symmetrical buildings, which mimic the gables of a rural country barn, and form distinguished visual boundaries between administration, treatment, and housing facilities. One of the unique features of the building is vaulted cathedral ceilings which frame the changing seasons, incorporate nature, and provide a humane visual frame and sense of place.

The expansive complex includes classrooms, teacher and administrative offices, a dining room, and a large full-service kitchen, as well as two residential wings.

Phoenix Academy is part of the Greenville County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse treatment family of facilities and provides educational and residential substance abuse treatment for adolescents.
